Not long ago I was king
And ruled over vast lands
I could move the world
By the will of my words

Never alone in bed
My fortress was safe
I drank the finest wines
That gold could buy

Then in a dream Fortune
Said my time had come
That nothing could stop
The turning of her wheel

I woke up and saw
Banners at the horizon
Marching into my kingdom
I got in despair

O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis

I felt my fall was sure and near
